Hello Readers,

In an earlier post we gave you information about the legislative work group formed to examine “invasive technologies”. This is under the auspices of the House Technology and Economic Development Committee of the Washington state legislature: http://www.leg.wa.gov/House/Committees/TED/Pages/MembersStaff.aspx

Attached are several documents relating to the work group’s efforts. One is the group’s plan for legislation for the 2014 session and beyond and the other three documents are proposed legislation on the topics of removing online content from social networking sites, limiting technology-enhanced government surveillance and regulating the use and operations of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

WTIA will be reviewing this proposed legislation. It is important that technology companies pay attention to what happens in Olympia as it affects their operations and costs of doing business.

If you find provisions in these proposals that concern you, please contact WTIA at Lmcmurran@washingtontechnology.org or by phone at 206-448-3033 x101.
