FY14 marks the 30th year anniversary of the WTIA and, like the member companies we serve, we are committed to innovation and continuous improvement. We are excited to announce several big changes that are either currently in place or will be released during 2014:
Happy New Year!
As the new Vice President of Business Development for the WTIA, I am looking forward to getting to know Washington's technology companies and professionals personally in the coming months. Tasked with growing the organization's membership, both in general and within the health trust, I see a tremendous amount of opportunity to increase the number of member companies and provide increased value to our members.
Happy New Year!
The 2014 Washington state Legislature will reconvene on January 13th and will be in session through March 13th, 2014. We here at the WTIA will be actively following legislative activity that will affect our membership base and champion initiatives that will direct more resources to address the chronic shortage of talent faced by our industry.
2013 was an exciting year for WTIA events. We launched our new Tech in Focus event series which featured great speakers on the hottest tech topics at some of the coolest tech offices, we celebrated the motion pictures through the years at our 18th annual Golf Tournament, and we shared the thoughts and perspectives from some of the technology industry's leaders at our TechNW: North to Innovation conference. It has been our pleasure to serve the Washington technology ecosystem with 50+ events throughout 2013 and we are excited to launch 2014 with continued high-caliber events.
Take a look at how we finished off an amazing 2013:
The WTIA consistently produces useful events for the technology community, from industry learning events like theblogstarter.com, to fun-filled networking events. The team is incredibly friendly and capable. They listen to the interests and feedback from their members, delivering a continuous stream of helpful, interesting and relevant events. Whether you are a start-up company or a world-leading innovator like Nuance, the WTIA offers plenty of services that will help you move forward in the very competitive environment of technology providers.
The Resourceful HR team recently conducted a survey among technology organizations around the Puget Sound region to gain insight into the sector's recruiting and hiring practices. Participants included CEOs, HR Directors, COOs, CFOs, HR Managers and Office Managers who are responsible for recruiting. We are excited to give you a preview of some of the results.
Since it's nearly impossible to attend every tech event in the area, the WTIA has decided to provide you with a monthly recap of the key event happenings for you to either relive or check out fresh. Our event recaps will include brief write-ups, photos, and videos of our own events, as well as other industry events that we will highlight through our partner involvement.
